Jose Maria Velasco Exhibit

From May 8 to June 25, in partnership with Artes de México en Utah en Utah and the Consulate of Mexico in Salt Lake City, UCCC will display José María Velasco: A Sense of Belonging. This exhibit, about the life of the 19th Century Mexican landscape painter, highlights the similarities between the landscape of the Valley of Mexico, now Mexico City, and the valleys of the Wasatch Front.

The exhibit includes bilingual educational panels about the history of landscape paintings in Mexico and reproductions of Velasco’s most famous works. For this showing only, original landscape paintings by Utah artists, on loan from the Salt Lake County Collection, are included.
