Governor’s Office of Economic Development to Host the 2nd Annual Women in International Business Conference

Conference to focus on security, international networking, and resources necessary for women to succeed in the global marketplace

The Governor’s Office of Economic Development (GOED) is hosting the 2nd Annual Women in International Business Conference on April 29, 2010 at the Salt Lake Community College Miller Campus. Women entrepreneurs, managers, and decision-makers involved in international business, or considering entering the international arena, are invited to participate in this conference.

“Utah was the only state in the U.S. to increase its exports in 2009 and Utah exports are at an all-time high,” states Franz Kolb, Regional Director of Europe, India, Middle East and Africa at GOED. “There has never been a better time to explore international opportunities. However, to be successful in the international marketplace a person needs to be globally minded and prepared for the unique challenges of international business. Women in particular face a unique challenges in the international arena.”

This free event will offer managers and decision-makers up-to-date information on managing issues specific to women in the international arena. Presentations and panel discussions will focus on global security, international networking, and business resources available to women.

“One of the most important aspects of this seminar is the opportunity to network,” states Kolb. We are building a community of internationally minded women in the State of Utah to continue our forward progress on the international front.” Over 60 participants from business, academia, education, and government attended last year’s conference providing ample networking opportunities.
                   
The conference is being sponsored by the Governor’s Office of Economic Development, Salt Lake Community College, Ballard Spahr, Ernst & Young, Xango, Utah Business Magazine, Salt Lake Chamber Women’s Business Center, U.S. Commercial Service, and World Trade Center Utah.

The conference will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Salt Lake Community College’s Miller Corporate Partnership Center, 9750 S. 300 West, Sandy. Lunch will be provided.
