Founder of new investment firm, The Cynosure Group, and former Under Secretary of the U.S. Treasury, Randal Quarles, will put his skills to good use when he invests his knowledge and experience in business owners at September’s Utah Global Forum (UGF). Quarles will present on investment capital in foreign markets, bringing insight on how Utah companies can prospect millions of customers world-wide.

The Cynosure Group—headquartered in Utah— sources, evaluates and manages direct private equity investments for some of the country’s most significant family offices. Before founding The Cynosure Group with Spencer P. Eccles and Bud Scruggs, his partners in the venture, Quarles was a partner in The Carlyle Group, one of the world’s leading private equity firms with 38 offices, including offices in South America, Europe and the Middle East.

During his time as Under Secretary of the U.S. Treasury in the George W. Bush administration, Quarles led the treasury’s activities in financial sector and capital market policies. He also served for several years as the Assistant Secretary of the Treasury for International Affairs, where he played a key role in responding to several international financial crises, and managed international matters on financial structure and stability, cross-border investment and promotion of free trade.

Any company with an intent in growing or starting their firm in exporting should attend the Utah Global Forum, presented by Governor Gary R. Herbert. UGF is Utah’s premiere international event organized to connect Utah business owners, leadership, sales and marketing professionals with the global market and to showcase what makes Utah great for foreign investors. The event will attract a broad domestic and international business audience and will inspire attendees to start or increase global trade and investment.

The forum will be held Sept. 24 in the Salt Palace, Grand Ballroom. To register, visit utahglobalforum.com. Registration is limited and will sell out quickly.
