Jaxon is a student at Brigham Young University and is interested in economics and business development. After interning with Maverik, Inc. as a business consultant, he decided to pursue a degree in Finance with an emphasis in Corporate Finance. He most recently worked with Accretive Capital Partners, a private investment fund. Following an LDS mission to Barcelona, Spain, he taught Spanish at the MTC for two years and also worked in the MTC training department. His hobbies include playing basketball and football, boxing, reading, and snowmobiling near Cache Valley.

Jake is a senior at Brigham Young University majoring in Political Science with minors in Global Business and Literacy and Spanish. He spent two years as a missionary in Chile where he became fluent in Spanish and deepened his understanding of and interest in Latin America and international relations. In addition, Jake spent the summer of 2014 doing research at the Homeland Security Studies and Analysis Institute (HSSAI) in Falls Church, VA as part of the Department of Homeland Security STEM Internship program. His research focused on how to gauge the deterrent value of nuclear and radiological detection systems at points of entry along the U.S. border. Jake was born and raised in Utah along with five younger brothers and one younger sister. He has a passion for sports, especially basketball, soccer, football, and distance running.

Matt Hazelgren is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Arts degree in Latin American Studies at Brigham Young University (BYU). Prior to becoming a fellow, Matt completed an internship with the Governor’s Office of Economic Development. He has interned with the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Office of International Affairs and recently worked as a sales representative for BYU Athletics. Prior to his university studies, he served a Spanish-speaking mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Matt competed as a pole vaulter on BYU’s track team for two years and is an active member of both the Foreign Service Student Organization and Management and Consulting Club.
