GRPB Board Member Selection

Composition

The Governor’s Rural Partnership Board is composed of 15 members as follows:

  1. The Governor or Governor’s designee
  2. A rural member of the Utah Association of Counties’ Board of Directors, appointed by the association’s board
  3. The Vice President of USU’s Extension Services or designee
  4. A rural member of the Utah League of Cities and Towns’ Board of Directors, appointed by the league’s board
  5. The president of SUU or designee
  6. The Chair of the Utah Rural Development Council
  7. A rural representative of agriculture
  8. A rural representative of the travel industry
  9. A representative of rural utilities
  10. A representative from the oil, gas, or mineral extraction industry
  11. 5 rural members at-large, appointed by the governor, at least one of which being a representative from a rural private business.

Board members are appointed for four-year terms, unless otherwise noted.

Vacancies

When a vacancy occurs, a replacement will be appointed for the unexpired portion of the term in the same manner as the vacated member was chosen.  Recommendations for filling vacancies of the 5 at-large positions are made to the Governor from a nominating committee consisting of:

  1. 3 individuals selected by the Steering Committee of the Rural Coordinating Committee
  2. 3 individuals selected by the Governor’s Rural Partnership Board from the Utah Rural Development Council membership
