Utah Valley University's 72-year history is rich with progressive ingenuity; a narrative that echoes the sentiment of the institution today, an institution established on engaged education and community support. Although young in name, UVU operated as Utah Valley State College for 15 years, growing the institution to nearly 24,000 students and becoming the first junior college to jump straight to NCAA Division I status. Today, with more academic opportunity than ever before with the addition of master's degrees and more than 120 baccalaureate, associate, certificate and diploma programs, UVU remains dedicated to the values it was built upon and continues to develop its imprint as a national leader in engaged learning and hands-on education, helping graduates leave the university with a resume, not just a diploma.

UVU is dedicated to providing a community that not only affords every opportunity for student success, but also fosters engagement and recreational activity outside the classroom to enhance the student experience. UVU's unique Student Success classes for freshman are designed to integrate new students into the UVU community through the support of student mentors and advisers, in addition to providing new students with study tips and helpful recources to get them on track for a successful university experience. Beyond the classroom, students are encouraged to get involved in extracurricular activities, including clubs, intramurals and other student organizations available on campus.
