In May of 2015, the Governor’s Office of Economic Development and the Economic Development Corporation of Utah launched a premier economic development website, locate.utah.gov. The site allows users to explore the state’s broadband availability, utility information, transportation, enterprise zones, workforce and lifestyle features. It also allows developers to evaluate potential locations and print customized reports with detailed summaries of available infrastructure.
Below is a step-by-step guide to add locate.utah.gov to your community’s economic development website. We encourage you to use this tool and would like to answer any questions you might have about it. If you would like us to walk you through the process contact Kendall Rathunde by phone at (801) 538-8742 or by email at krathunde@utah.gov.
Step 1:
In the upper right corner of the website, enter your city, county, etc. and then click “Find Address”.
Step 2:
To make an image for the feature on your community development website, take a screen shot of your city or county with various services highlighted.
For example, Salt Lake City and the surrounding area have several lifestyle activities, universities, fiber networks, and various other key infrastructure features. Be creative and show off your community’s assets.
Step 3:
After you have picked your settings, copy the URL from locate.utah.gov and use it as the link for your website’s feature. Because the URL is interactive, it will direct users to same view and allow them to interact with locate.utah.gov.
For example, Orem City has featured locate.utah.gov on their economic development website. Here is a snapshot of how it looks.
If you have any questions about these steps or how to add it to your website, please contact Kendall Rathunde at 801-538-8742 or by e-mail at krathunde@utah.gov.
