Dept. of Education SBIR FY 2025

The U.S. Department of Education and Institute of Education Sciences’ (ED/IES) Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) FY 2025 Phase IA, Phase IB, and Direct to Phase II solicitations are now open. 

The U.S. Department of Ed and IES’s SBIR program funds entrepreneurial developers and research partners to create the next generation of education technology products for students, teachers, and administrators. The program emphasizes an iterative research and development process and pilot studies to evaluate the feasibility, usability, and promise of new products to improve education outcomes. 

Program Solicitation Includes: 

  • Phase IA – Requests proposals for the development of prototypes of novel education technology products for which no or limited previous research and development has already occurred.
  • Phase IB – Requests proposals for the development of a new component to be added to an existing research-based education technology prototype or product.
  • Direct to Phase II –  Requests proposals for the development of new education technology products to ready evidence-based innovations for use at scale.Researcher(s) at a university or non-profit education organization must have created the existing evidence-based innovation.

National Institute of Standards and Technology SBIR FY2025

The National Institute of Standards and Technology SBIR FY 2025 Phase I Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) is now available.

The NIST Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Program Phase I seeks to explore the technical merit or feasibility of innovative ideas or technologies with the aim of developing a viable product or service and/or a standard that will be introduced to the commercial marketplace.

Department of Homeland Security SBIR 25.1

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) SBIR 25.1 Pre-Solicitation is now open. 

The DHS SBIR Program’s goal is to increase the participation of innovative and creative U.S. small businesses in federal research and development programs and challenge the industry to bring innovative homeland security solutions to reality.

Topics Include:

  • Fentanyl Attribution Forensics/Source Profiling
  • Enabling Data Analysis, Situational Awareness, and Cyber Security for NG911 Public Safety Answering Points 
  • On-Person Screening Stream of Commerce Analysis Tool
