Dept. of Energy Awards Utah Companies $1.5M in R&D Grants

The U.S Department of Energy (DOE) recently announced $37 million in non-equity position grants to small businesses, including six Utah companies who received a total of $1,569,288 through the federal Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) programs.  

Utah DOE grant award winners are:

  • Coreform, LLC, Orem, Utah 
  • HiFunda, LLC, Salt Lake City, Utah
  • InnoSys, Inc., Salt Lake City, Utah
  • Reaction Engineering International, Midvale, Utah
  • Storagenergy Technologies, Inc., Salt Lake City, Utah
  • Technology Holding, LLC, West Valley City, Utah

The Utah Industry and Innovation Center, part of the Governor’s Office of Economic Development (GOED), has worked with several of the companies and is proud to support Utah small businesses in their search for grant funding to support the research and development of impactful technologies with promising commercial potential.  

The Center provides training, guidance and assistance to help companies submit their strongest SBIR-STTR proposals. The Center has a better than 25% win rate, almost twice the national average, and received the Tibbets award, the highest honor bestowed by the Small Business Administration for organizations working in support of these programs.
