Gov. Spencer Cox has officially declared February 2026 as Tech Month in Utah, in recognition of the State’s technology sector and its role as a nationally recognized engine of economic growth and innovation.

The announcement comes as the state’s tech community gathers for a high-energy series of events, such as  Fintech XChangeSummit, and Tech Week, which are being hosted in partnership with organizations like The Nucleus Institute and Visit Salt Lake.

“Utah’s technology sector is a cornerstone of our state’s economic prosperity,” Cox said in his proclamation, noting that the industry contributes over $25 billion to Utah’s GDP and has seen a 12% growth rate over the last five years, supporting tens of thousands of high-paying jobs.

Throughout the month, Utah will actively engage with industry leaders and events to coordinate efforts and identify opportunities for companies and entrepreneurs. GOEO will be engaged alongside these industry leaders, organizations, and partners.

“I’ve had the opportunity to spend time with a number of different groups, and as I talk to them, the thing that resonates most is that we’re all a part of building Utah,” said GOEO Executive Director Jefferson Moss as he announced Tech Month at Summit. “We’re going to focus on how we can build together.”

The declaration also emphasizes Utah’s commitment to a “pro-human approach” to rapid technological advancement, ensuring that emerging technologies, such as artificial intelligence, are designed to enhance human flourishing rather than displace the workforce.

“February serves as a vital time for industry leaders, educators, and public partners to convene,” Cox stated, “bridging our innovation economy with local communities to build a durable future for all residents.”
