Governor Gary R. Herbert has selected Val Hale as the new executive director of the Governor’s Office of Economic Development. Most recently, Hale served as president and CEO of the Utah Valley Chamber of Commerce, which represents local businesses and has been located in a region of economic growth in the information and technology sector for the past several years.

Prior to his role at the Chamber, he was president of university relations at Utah Valley University and worked with the transition of Utah Valley State College into Utah Valley University.  Hale has also served as athletic director at Brigham Young University.

Hale is expected to start in his new position on August 4, 2014.
