Representatives from the state, county and local governments recently gathered in Kanab to learn more about Kane county’s economic development efforts.

Lt. Gov. Spencer Cox, GOED’s executive director Val Hale, Ginger Chinn, GOED managing director for urban and rural business services, and a host of other attendees learned more about success stories and challenges the county is experiencing.

“The familiarization tour provided valuable insights into how GOED can best-serve the county in their economic development efforts,” says Chinn.

At the familiarization tour, the team met with county commissioners, economic developers, staff members from the Office of Tourism and Chamber of Commerce, as well as business and agriculture representatives and others gathered to review current programs and available resources. They also discussed opportunities for increased collaboration.

The tour included local farm to table discussions, a tour of Kanab city facilities and a visit and overview of the East Zion Initiative.
