Does your company need funding for research and development of innovative technology? The NSF Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) programs fund transformational technology with economic and societal benefits and a commercialization path, preferring investigator-led projects.
The NSF SBIR-STTR programs offer submission windows, as opposed to specific deadlines, that allow small businesses the flexibility to submit a full proposal at almost any time through the year.
Proposers are required to submit a three-page Project Pitch that outlines the project objectives, technical innovation, and associated technical risks. If your company is based in Utah, the Utah Industry and Innovation Center can review your Project Pitch and give you feedback prior to submitting it to the NSF. You can send your draft to innovationutah@utah.gov.
Small businesses that have been invited to submit a full proposal can then submit a proposal based on that Project Pitch. The NSF welcomes the submission of Project Pitches and full proposals (from companies that were invited to submit) in nearly all technical areas.
