This article is part of a series featuring Utah-based companies and what they’re doing during the coronavirus pandemic.

Young Living Essential Oils is founded on the principle that everyone is essential. As the COVID-19 pandemic uprooted everyday life in Utah, Young Living immediately amended business operations to help the diverse needs of the community.

“Young Living is honored to be part of the effort as we look at the multiple needs from frontline workers to small businesses to families,” said Jared Turner, COO and president of Young Living. “There is much work to be done, and we hope to lead in a way that others feel empowered to serve as well.”

Since the beginning of the crisis, Young Living donated hand sanitizer from its Thieves product line to local healthcare facilities, police stations, fire departments, school districts and other vital workers. The company also put its 3D printers to good use printing masks for the Utah County Sheriff’s Department.

Another concern within the community is perpetuating food assistance programs. Young Living’s donation of $233,767 to Meals on Wheels helped ensure seniors had access to healthy food. For children who depend on school lunches, Young Living sent 1,728 boxes of cereal to the Cereal Project, assisting the Jordan Education Foundation Central Principal’s Pantry.

Resource centers, homeless shelters and health clinics are also in need of baby essentials and personal care items. Young Living is working with Baby2Baby and has proudly donated $300,000 in kind, including baby wipes, bars of soap, toothpaste, and more.

“We are enamored with the community support and service-oriented nature in Utah. It has been inspirational to see organizations use creativity and resourcefulness to take action as quickly as we have,” said Turner.
