Congratulations to Glendor, a Utah-based small business that recently completed a $53,000 contract with the National Institutes of Health (NIH) to integrate their novel Protected Health Information (PHI) Sanitizer into the Clinical Trial Processor. The new software will protect patient’s privacy while enabling medical image sharing for research purposes.
The presence of Protected Health Information (PHI) Sanitizer in medical images eliminates a significant roadblock in sharing and aggregating data. Automated PHI detection, masking, and deletion is important for a number of reasons – perhaps most because the current volume of datasets makes manual removal of PHI nearly impossible.
The Utah Innovation Center consulted with Glendor on a Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) proposal for research and development of this project, and while the project was not funded at that time, the proposal caught the attention of NIH officials who later sought out Glendor for this contract.
