Summary

On July 1, 2021, following direction from Gov. Cox and the Utah Legislature, the Utah Governor’s Office of Economic Development (GOED) changed its name to the Governor’s Office of Economic Opportunity, with a new nickname of ‘Go Utah.’

Dan Hemmert, executive director of the Office of Economic Opportunity, discusses the significance of the name change with Carine Clark, chair of the Go Utah Board.

To date, Utah has focused on creating new high-paying jobs that boost the economy. In this podcast, Hemmert and Clark discuss quality of life and economic development challenges like housing affordability, inclusivity, diversity, and providing economic opportunities to all Utahns as critical touchpoints to maintain Utah’s already diverse and enviable economy.

Join Hemmert and Clark as they discuss what they’re doing to create opportunities for Utahns and why the technology industry continues to thrive on Utah’s Silicon Slopes.
