RAPS Utah Chapter Announced

The Regulatory Affairs Professionals Society (RAPS) recently announced the official launch of the RAPS Utah Chapter. RAPS is the largest global organization of and for those involved with the regulation of healthcare and related products, including medical devices, pharmaceuticals, biologics and nutritional products.

This is great news, considering Utah’s life sciences industry is booming. The Kem C. Gardner Policy Institute recently released a study of the economic impact of Utah’s life sciences industry. The report found that life science companies in the state employ 130,439 jobs accounting for $7.6 billion in personal income.

The announcement comes just over a year after RAPS was successfully established as an affiliated local networking group. Chapter Chair Robert Wolfarth, senior manager of regulatory affairs for Merit Medical Systems Inc., shared the news and gave a brief overview of the chapter’s vision and mission last week at the Utah Life Sciences Summit in Salt Lake City, an annual industry event organized by BioUtah, a statewide association of life sciences companies and affiliates.

The RAPS Utah Chapter will continue to serve and support healthcare product regulatory professionals throughout the state, hosting local education and networking events, facilitating knowledge-sharing and professional development, and building awareness of the important role regulatory professionals play in Utah’s vibrant and growing life sciences sector.
