All Spring 2017 broadband coverage and speed updates submitted to the Center’s mapping team have been updated in the residential and commercial broadband map webapps. Thank you to everybody who participated, the success of these maps is dependent on broadband providers sharing updates on the services that they provide — services that consistently put Utah at the top of broadband availability rankings.
For this mapping update round, 20 providers were updated on the map. Changes are summarized below.
- All West Communications: increased advertised fiber speeds to 1 Gbps down in select areas of Rich, Summit and Wasatch Counties, and increased advertised DSL speeds in select areas of the same region.
- AT&T: expanded 4G coverage to areas of rural Utah.
- Centracom: increased all advertised cable speeds to 100 Mbps down and 10 Mbps up.
- CenturyLink: expanded fiber to select areas, and increased advertised DSL speeds to 100 Mbps down to areas in Weber, Davis, Salt Lake, Utah, Beaver and Washington Counties.
- Comcast: increased all advertised speeds to 250 Mbps down/15 Mbps up.
- Direct Communications: increased all advertised fiber upload speeds to 1 Gbps.
- Frontier Communications: increased advertised DSL speeds in select areas of the Delta and Tremonton areas, and added coverage to Hole in the Rock (south of Moab).
- InfoWest: increased all advertised speeds to 50 Mbps down/20 Mbps up.
- Keystone: changed name to Keystone Solutions and increased all advertised speeds to 50 Mbps down/20 Mbps up.
- Level 3 Communications: updated commercial fiber coverage areas.
- Manti Telephone: increased all advertised fiber speeds to 1 Gbps down/up.
- Spanish Fork Community Network: increased all advertised speeds to 120 Mbps down/20 mbps up and added fiber to select areas in Spanish Fork.
- Sprint: expanded coverage and increased speeds to select areas of the state.
- Strata Networks: expanded DSL service to select areas of the greater Vernal and Roosevelt areas, increased advertised DSL speeds in select areas of Duchesne and Uintah County to 25 Mbps down and 50 Mbps down, and, expanded fiber service in select areas of Vernal, Roosevelt, and Duchesne.
- Syringa Networks: updated commercial fiber coverage.
- TDS Telecom: expanded cable coverage in select areas of the greater Cedar City and St. George areas, added fiber coverage to select areas of Ivins, St. George, Washington, and Hurricane.
- T-Mobile: expanded 4G coverage to areas of rural Utah.
- TKS Inc: increased all advertised download speeds to 25 Mbps.
- UTOPIA: expanded residential fiber coverage in select areas of Perry, Payson, West Valley, and Murray.
- Verizon Wireless: expanded existing 4G coverage in areas of rural Utah.
