Please be advised that as of July 1, 2025, the Unified Economic Opportunity Commission (UEOC) is no longer active. This webpage is provided for historical purposes and reflects the commission’s former responsibilities and accomplishments.
Previously, the Unified Economic Opportunity Commission (UEOC) developed, directed, and coordinated Utah’s statewide and regional economic development strategies. The commission informed policy decisions and built consensus.
The former essential requirements and objectives of the commission included:
- Developing a 10-year statewide economic opportunity strategy
- Developing solutions and policies for the significant challenges facing the state
- Identifying solutions for economic, infrastructure, and transportation growth
- Identifying solutions for education, training, and workforce development
- Ensuring the commission’s efforts were data-driven and evidence-based
Under the leadership of Governor Spencer J. Cox, the commission included senior leaders from Utah’s legislative and executive branches, education, local government, and subject matter experts.
