The 2019 Procurement Technical Assistance Center (PTAC) Symposium, sponsored by the Utah Governor’s Office of Economic Development, was held on Oct. 16 at the Salt Lake Community College in Sandy, Utah (Miller Campus).
Approximately 340 attendees participated in the symposium, and over 50 exhibitors from the Department of Defense, federal, state, city, county, local school districts and prime defense contractors also attended.
“This year’s symposium was among our most successful,” said Chuck Spence, director of GOED’s Procurement Technical Assistance Center. “Several attendees positively commented on the keynote speaker’s presentation and the breakout sessions. It was exciting to see many new attendees participate, many of whom were new to government contracting.”
This year’s featured speakers were Utah Lt. Gov. Spencer Cox and award-winning business coach and bestselling author Joshua Frank.
The symposium started with Lt. Gov. Spencer Cox giving examples of the complexities of government contracting when he was in the private sector. He also noted the value PTAC brings to its clients in helping them navigate their way through the complexities of government contracting.
Joshua Frank spoke about how it’s not enough to state what your products and services are, you must differentiate yourself and show what your value is to your potential customer.
