When Utah-based companies need customized training services, there is a tried-and-true resource with a 30-year proven track record.
Custom Fit Training provides flexible and customized training to businesses in Utah. This unique program offers the benefit of state-of-the-art training and development tailored to meet specific business needs at an affordable cost. The Utah Legislature allocates Custom Fit funds each year to encourage companies to pursue training that will maintain and grow Utah’s businesses and economy.
The mission of Custom Fit is to support economic and workforce development through training partnerships between Utah companies and the Utah System of Technical Colleges. The program provides state-subsidized training for Utah employers that meet specific educational needs.
“Custom Fit helps employers maintain a competitive, technically-skilled workforce while promoting economic development’” says Jared Haines, interim commissioner of technical education for the Utah System of Technical Colleges. “It accomplishes this by providing training customized to meet the company’s current needs.
The program is administered by the Utah System of Technical Colleges (UTech) regionally through its eight technical colleges, Snow College and Utah State University Eastern. Salt Lake Community College also provides a Custom Fit program for Salt Lake County.
Last year, the UTech program served over 19,000 trainees, and that amounted to 316,858 instructional hours.
“The variety of industries the program serves is region-specific,” says Haines. “All programs are administered locally by the college, so each college has a Custom Fit director, and they oversee their program.”
Custom Fit is a partnership between an employer and the college. Qualifying employers are expected to provide at least 50% of the direct training costs.
“Custom Fit is a great resource for building a competitive workforce for a company as well as for the state,” says Haines.
