Governor Gary R. Herbert, Lt. Governor Spencer Cox, rural legislators, economic development directors and other stakeholders from around the state will meet on Oct. 10, 2018, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Snow College in Richfield, to review individual county strategic economic development plans and state programs.

The 25K Rural Legislative Retreat will feature an analysis of economic development plans by the University of Utah’s Kem C. Gardner Policy Institute. The analysis will incorporate highlights of individual county plans and opportunities for state-wide strategic growth and improvement.

The conference will also provide a setting for all parties to review the rural programs and incentives the Governor’s Office of Economic Development (GOED) offers. “We hope through feedback and collaboration to determine which programs and incentives are truly creating jobs, encouraging capital investment in rural counties and building stronger rural economies,” said Ginger Chinn, GOED managing director of business services.

The event will include all members of the Governor’s Rural Partnership Board and GOED leadership. The conference is open to the public.
