Congratulations to Trident Sensing, winner of a $100,000 Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Phase I grant from the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA).

The Park City, Utah company will use the non-equity position funds to develop an airborne fire mapping sensor and proprietary algorithm that will automatically create 3-D maps of wildfires. The new technology has potential to improve the efficiency of wildfire management, reduce fire damage and save lives.

The Utah Innovation Center assisted Trident Sensing with their winning proposal. Winning a Phase I SBIR grant qualifies Trident Sensing to compete for an additional $650,000 Phase II grant upon successful completion of the Phase I project.
