The coronavirus pandemic certainly presents many challenges for workers, but along with the challenges, it also presents opportunities. One such opportunity is the V School Community Relief Scholarship that helps veterans launch a career in technology online and at home.
“With COVID-19 leading to the layoffs and furloughs of so many of our citizens, the need to reskill, retrain and get Americans back to work has never been more important,” said Mo Reeder, co-founder and COO at V School.
V School was established to help veterans successfully launch a career in tech. With many veterans now out of work, it is helping them transition into a career in tech. The organization established a $1 million relief fund to help 170 veterans re-skill for a career in technology. It is providing $6,000 towards tuition for their web development and UX/UI design online programs.
Training consists of seven modules where students are required to pass each lesson with a responsive learning model. Module 7 focuses on helping students find internships and leave with a job-ready portfolio.
“By the time this pandemic is gone, we’ll have dozens of bright computer engineers ready to power the startups that make our Silicon Slopes such an exciting place to live, work and learn,” said Reeder.
